SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - Wilma Holland Googe, 94, of Savannah, Georgia, widow of John Henry Googe, died Thursday morning, December 23, 2010, at the home of her daughter, Elaine, with immediate family around her and under the care of Hospice Savannah.
Born January 31, 1916, in Baxley, Georgia and married in 1937, she and J.H. moved to Savannah, Georgia in 1941 and lived here since. Wilma devoted her life to being a mother and homemaker. She was a long time member of Southside Baptist Church. Wilma and J.H. were married for sixty one years before his death in 1998. She will be greatly missed by all her family, who are grateful for the Christian example of these Godly parents. May all who come behind us, find us faithful to God our Father. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her first child, Carolyn Googe; two sons-in-law, Herald Wood and Bruce Pierce, and one grandchild, Cherri Wood.
She is survived by her four children, Myrna Loy Googe Wood of Savannah, Georgia, John Hilton Googe (Maryann) of Charleston, South Carolina, Elaine Googe Pierce of Savannah, and Glenn Googe (Pat) of Charleston; her grandchildren, John Wood (Robyn) of Savannah; Susan Googe Taylor (Mouzon) of Charleston, Lisa Googe Royster (Chris) of Columbia, David Pierce and Julia Pierce, both of Savannah, Chris Googe (Crystal) and Jamie Googe Parfrey (Justin), all of Charleston; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Essie Holland Sumner of Faulkville, Georgia and Grace Holland Gaskin of Jacksonville, Florida; two brothers, Edwin Holland (Mildred) and Johnny Holland (Bonnie), all of Jacksonville, and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o'clock Monday at Gamble Funeral Service, 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Tuesday morning in Southside Baptist Church conducted by The Reverend Dr. Allan W. Bosson.  Interment will be in Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park - East.
