William Kinney Whitfield

William 'Bill' Kinney Whitfield III was born in Orlando, Florida on July 12, 1936 to Aline J. and William K. Whitfield, Jr. After an extended illness Bill met our Lord on January 7, 2017.
He graduated from Florida Southern College in 1959 and married his college sweetheart, Carole Smith Whitfield, the following year. Bill was actively involved in the community and served on many Boards to include the YMCA of Central Florida and the Florida Heart Association. He was a member of the Country Club of Orlando and The University Club. Bill had many friends and was loved by all for his gentle sweet nature and his wonderful sense of humor. He spent his career working in the banking and citrus industries. Although Bill enjoyed golf and other outdoor activities, the most important thing in his life was spending time with family and friends. He had a deep faith and had always been actively involved with his church.
Bill was predeceased by his parents, Aline J. and William K. Whitfield Jr.; his sister, Beverly J. Whitfield; and his son, Kenneth D. Whitfield.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carole S. Whitfield; his daughter and son-in-law, Wanda W. and Karl D. Bohnstedt, Sr.; his cherished grandson, Karl 'Dane' Bohnstedt, Jr. and his wife, Christian H. Bohnstedt, and his beloved granddaughter, Margaret Ann Bohnstedt.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon, January 14, 2017, at Christ Church Episcopal in Savannah. The family will receive friends at the church after the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to Christ Church Episcopal - 18 Abercorn Street, Savannah, Georgia 31401 or the charity of your choice.
