SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - William "Billy" Dolphus Tucker, 80, of Savannah, Georgia, husband of Rosalie Pardue Tucker, died Wednesday evening, March 7, 2012, at his home under the care of United Hospice.
Born in Savannah, Georgia, he was a son of the late Virgil Homer Tucker and the late Vera Holland Tucker. Mr. Tucker graduated from Mary Person's High School in Forsyth, Georgia. He attended Armstrong State College in Savannah and Georgia Technical College in Atlanta. Mr. Tucker owned and operated Tucker Heating and Cooling Company for 27 years. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served in the United States Air Force Reserve and the Georgia Air National Guard. Mr. Tucker was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Donald G. Tucker, and a granddaughter, Anne Marie Fraps.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Rosalie Pardue Tucker; three daughters, Barbara McCallie and her husband, Tony, Victoria Glisson and her husband, Billy, and Patricia Fraps and her husband, Bill; four grandchildren, Celeste Harrington and her husband, Robert, Alexandria Hodge, Benjamin Hodge and Dianne McCallie; six great-grandchildren, Kayla Bazzle, Mary Bazzle, Landen Hodge, Madison Hodge, Abby Cail and Ryan Harrington; one brother, Gene Tucker, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 2 until 4 o'clock Sunday afternoon at Gamble Funeral Service - 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Monday morning at the graveside, Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park - East, conducted by Father Mark J. Ross.
The family would like to thank Dr. Mark Taylor, Dr. Douglas Mullins, and all of the nurses at the Lewis Cancer Center.
