William Earl Hodges, 81, of Savannah, GA, died Saturday December 10, 2022 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born February 7, 1941 in Dothan, Alabama to Ollie B and Glenwood Hodges. He graduated from Dothan High School in 1959 and from Troy State University in 1964. Will taught school in Georgia and Florida before teaching electronics at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama. Will was deeply committed to education and to the soldiers he counseled, and he maintained a lifelong passion for learning. Will was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Savannah, serving as a deacon and singing in the choir. He was “famous” for making biscuits, pancakes; drinking coffee and understanding the rules of gravity.
In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his sisters Judy Armstrong, Glenda Morris and Wanda Bird Steinhauer.
Surviving are his wife Elizabeth (Bettie); daughter, Ada Graham and her husband Mac; grandchildren, Zadeea and Sterling, as well and many cousins, nieces, nephews and in-laws.
The family would like to thank Hospice Savannah; caregivers, Janice, Barbara, Eugene, Ava, Desiree and Sandra and the many friends who helped make his last days comfortable.
The Funeral Service will be private with a memorial service to be held at a later date.
