SAVANNAH AND ROBERTA, GEORGIA - William Robert "Bob" Hill, Sr., 65, of Savannah and Roberta, Georgia, died Saturday evening, October 17, 2009, at Hospice Savannah.
Born in Macon, Georgia, he was a son of Emily Walker Hill and the late William Ward Hill, Jr. Bob was a member of Roberta United Methodist Church in Roberta. He was a 1962 graduate of Crawford County High School and attended North Georgia Military College and Southern Polytechnic and State University. Bob was a retired engineer for Proctor and Gamble in Oglethorpe, Georgia. He enjoyed painting, cooking, fishing, hunting and gunsmithing.
Surviving are two daughters, Leigh H. Ryan and her husband, T. J., of Savannah, Georgia, and Mary Hill Cummings and her husband, John, of Fort Valley, Georgia; one son, William Robert "Rob" Hill, Jr. and his wife, Lisa, of Macon, Georgia; his mother, Emily Walker Hill of Roberta, Georgia; one brother, Vic Brown and his wife, Mindee, of Atlanta, Georgia, and eight grandchildren, Victoria L. Hill, Elizabeth M. Hill, Sarah F. Hill, Emily W. Ryan, Kathryn L. Ryan, Austin Cummings, Jake Cummings and Suzanna Cummings.
The family will receive friends from 12 until 1 o'clock Thursday afternoon in Roberta United Methodist Church.
The funeral service will be held at 1 o'clock Thursday afternoon in Roberta United Methodist Church. Interment will be private.
