William David Floyd

d. August 6, 2017

William David Floyd, 65, of Bloomingdale passed away on Saturday, August 5, 2017, after a brief illness. While his passing came unexpectedly, his family finds great comfort knowing that he is now at peace in Heaven with his beloved mother, Pixie Lambert Floyd, and sisters, Billie Nelson, Jesse Parks, Nell Martini, Shirley Niebergall, and Clarice Levels. He was also preceded in death by his father, Henry Floyd.

He was born in Blakely, Georgia on April 27, 1952. After serving his country in the United States Marine Corps he found his calling in the flooring industry. A master craftsman who took great pride in his craft, his work is featured in some of the finest homes and businesses from Savannah to the Gulf Coast of Florida.

David found the love of his life in Esther Darlene Floyd, his wife and best friend. He is also survived by his children, Misty Floyd (Daniel Cotton), Sirena Monteleone (Jon), and Jeremy Hodges; grandsons, Brian Monteleone and Nathan Lewis; siblings, Clayton Floyd, Carl Floyd (Jeanette), Robert Floyd (Linda), Jimmy Floyd (Mary), Sue Canady (Bobby), Dean Crawford, and Brenda Slater (Glen); mother-in-law, Geraldine Wasdin, and stepchildren, Michelle, Stephanie, and Colton Morgan.

He will be remembered as a loving (and very handsome) husband and father who could accomplish anything that he set his mind to. David was the life of the party, the favorite Uncle, a knight in shining armor, and the best storyteller. He loved life and adventure, was loved by all who knew him, and will be deeply missed.

The funeral service will be held at 10 o'clock Wednesday, August 9, 2017, at Dean Forest Baptist Church conducted by Pastor Guy Boyd. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Meldrim.
