William 'Bill' Joseph Butts, Sr., 65, of Savannah, Georgia, died Wednesday afternoon, June 21,?? 2017, at his home.
Born in Savannah, Georgia, he was a son of the late Robert Burt Butts and the late Norma Jean Rogers Butts. Bill retired as a Master Firefighter with Savannah Fire Department and later was a checker with the International Longshoremen\'s Association (ILA). He was a member of Thunderbolt No. 693 F. & A.M. and the Scottish Rite. Truly one-of-a-kind, he loved his family, brightening people's day, playing pranks and the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and four wheeling.
Surviving are one daughter, Emily Chapman and her husband, Justin; one son, W. Joseph Butts, Jr.; three grandchildren, Harper Butts, Cayden Chapman and Briley Chapman; one sister, Betty Malone; one brother, Mike Thompson, two nieces, Savannah Citroen and Lisa Slook, and his two dogs, Savannah and Bootsy.
A memorial service will be held from 5:30 until 7:30 o'clock Monday at Island's Christian Church ' 4601 Highway 80. Following the memorial, the family will receive friends at Bill's home, 39 Angel Oaks Drive.
