Wendell Purvis Neville, Sr., 93, of Garden City, Georgia and widower of Lila Lee 'Leacy' Hall Neville, died Saturday morning, July 2, 2016, at Westview Nursing and Rehabilitation.



Born in Brooklet, Georgia, he was a son of the late Charles Neville and the late Minnie Wilson Neville Langford. Mr. Neville was a longtime active member of Garden City United Methodist Church. He was a United States Navy veteran having served in World War II and the Korean Conflict. Mr. Neville served aboard the USS Brinkley Bass. He was a retired machinist with Savannah Machine and Foundry. Mr. Neville was one of the founders of the Garden City Little League and served two terms on Garden City City Council. He was devoted to his family and friends, was an avid reader, and enjoyed freshwater fishing.



In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Pamela Stephens Neville; two sisters and one half-brother.



Surviving are one son, Wendell 'Wendy' Purvis Neville, Jr. of Garden City, Georgia; one daughter, Wanda Neville Perry and her husband, Bill, of Marietta, Georgia; two grandsons, Lyle Perry and Kevin Perry, and a number of nieces and nephews.



The family will receive friends from 11 until 11:45 o'clock Wednesday morning at Gamble Funeral Service - 410 Stephenson Avenue.



The funeral service, with military honors, will be at 12 noon Wednesday in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by The Reverend Ed Cadle. Private entombment will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.



Pallbearers will be Lyle Perry, Kevin Perry, Jerry Bridgforth, Brett Bower, Lon Bower and Barry Morgan.
