Walter Parrish, 98, passed from this life to Glory on July 23, 2017, at Savannah Commons and under the care of The Springs staff as well as Spanish Oaks Hospice.
Born in West Hoboken, New Jersey, Walter moved to Savannah in 1974, where he established a local ServiceMASTER franchise. He was a graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University with a degree in Accounting and served several local businesses. Walter spent many years as a volunteer with Hospice Savannah. He was a United States Navy veteran having served as a signalman aboard destroyers from 1940 ' 1945.
In addition to Lillian, his wife of 66 years, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Dorothy and Marylin.
Mourning him are his children, Barbara Allen (Jim Leffel), David Parrish (Carolyn), Richard Parrish (Patricia), Tom Parrish (Karen Martin), and Jean McManus (Norman); grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 Wednesday evening at Gamble Funeral Service - 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 11 o\'clock Thursday morning in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service. Interment will be at 1 o'clock Thursday afternoon in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville, Georgia.
