W. Leon Friedman, Jr., 87, of Savannah, Georgia and husband of Helene Whiteman Friedman, died Friday morning, December 25, 2020, at his home with his family at his side.
Born in Savannah, Georgia, he was a son of the late W. Leon Friedman, Sr. and the late Evelyn Bodziner. Mr. Friedman was a member of Congregation Agudath Achim. He graduated from Benedictine Military School and earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Georgia. Mr. Friedman retired from residential and commercial real estate sales. He was a staunch Benedictine School supporter and an avid UGA Bulldog football fan. Mr. Friedman enjoyed reading, solving crossword puzzles, playing the trumpet and ballroom dancing, especially with Helene.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Lisa Alexandra Roltsch.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Helene Whiteman Friedman; three children, Dr. Ellen Vargas (Alberto), Dr. Philip Friedman, and Jason Friedman (Jeffrey); five grandchildren, Joshua Friedman, Callie Friedman, Alberto Vargas, Jr., Aden Vargas, and Enrique Vargas; one brother, Julian R. Friedman, and cousins including Maxine Gourse.
The funeral service will be held at 1 o'clock Sunday afternoon, December 27, 2020, at the graveside, Bonaventure Cemetery, conducted by Rabbi Steven B. Henkin.
