Virginia Irene 'Genny' Pidgeon Rost, 59, of Rincon, Georgia and wife of Harry Gregory 'Rusty' Rost, died Tuesday afternoon, March 3, 2015, at Candler Hospital surrounded by her family.



Born in Amityville, New York, she was the daughter of the late Charles Wendell Pidgeon and the late Joyce Marie Wood Pidgeon. Genny lived all of her life in Savannah. She was a server at the Huddle House in Pooler for many years before she retired. Genny loved to piddle in her garden as well as watch her grandchildren play baseball and other sports.



In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Andrew Pidgeon, and two grandchildren, Thomas Edward Cartee and Christopher Andrew Cartee.



Surviving are her husband, Harry Gregory 'Rusty' Rost of Rincon, Georgia; her children, Glenda Gale Rost Sharpe and her husband, Kim, Steven Gregory Rost and his wife, Karin, Christina Marie 'Tina' Nelson and her husband, James, and Kayla Marie 'Bug' Bignault Cox and her fianc??, Dustin Russell; her grandchildren, Casey Lynn Reeves and her husband, Corey, Christopher Wayne Ward and his wife, Delta, Stacie Nicole Morgan and her husband, Joe, Thomas Allen Torrance, Savannah Marie Cartee, Dillon Skylar 'Dill Pickle' Jordan, Slater Landon Rost, and Cam Justice Cox; her great-grandchildren, Anna, Gauge, Eric, Chloe and Luna; her brother, Barry Rob Pidgeon and his wife, Debbie; her sister-in-law, Tina Marie Pidgeon; several nieces and nephews, and many special friends including Glynnis Futch, who was the sister of her heart.



The family will receive friends from 2 until 4 o'clock Sunday afternoon at Gamble Funeral Service ' 410 Stephenson Avenue, Savannah.



The funeral service will be held at 10 o'clock Monday morning in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by The Reverend Dr. Samuel W. Watkins. Interment will be at 12 noon Monday at Beaufort National Cemetery in Beaufort, South Carolina.
