SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - Virginia Conn Jones, 84, of Savannah, Georgia, widow of Dr. William B. Jones, died Sunday morning, June 21, 2009, at Savannah Specialty Care Center.
Born in Atlanta, Georgia she was a resident of Savannah since 1957. Mrs. Jones was a member of First Presbyterian Church. She was a past President of the Southeastern District Dental Auxiliary, and was a past President of La Sertoma Club of Savannah, and a former District Governor, former Regional Director and past International President of La Sertoma Club. Mrs. Jones and her husband served as co-presidents of Windsor Forest Elementary School and Windsor Forest High School PTA. She was active in the Band and Drill Team Booster Club at Windsor Forest High School. Mrs. Jones served on the Advisory Board of Young Life of Savannah. She retired from Care One Home Health after 21 years of service. Dr. Jones and Mrs. Jones enjoyed ballroom dancing and were members of the Kwan Loma Dance Club.
Surviving are three daughters, Lynne Beryl Jones of Savannah, Kay Berland and her husband, Dale, of Richmond Hill, Georgia, and Jean Opalenik Nardini and her husband, Art, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and three grandchildren, Joe Berland, Molly Berland and Andrew Opalenik.
The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Monday morning in First Presbyterian Church conducted by The Reverend Dr. Stephen C. Williams. Interment will be private.
The family will receive friends following the service in Stewart Hall at First Presbyterian Church.
