SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - Virginia Sikes Covington, 83, of Savannah, Georgia, died Wednesday morning, September 12, 2012, at her home.
Born in Emanuel County, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Hardy Newton Sikes and the late Erna Agnes Johnson Sikes. Virginia was a member of Garfield United Methodist Church and was a homemaker.
Surviving are one son, John Keith Covington and his wife, Judy, of Lulu, Georgia; two daughters, Phyllis Simons and her husband, Mark, and Sherri Cadman and her husband, Mark, all of Savannah, Georgia; eight grandchildren, Selina Williamson and her husband, Michael, Kristin Covington, Casey Covington, Scott Morgan and his wife, Christy, Ashley Harrison and her husband, Cole, Caleb Simons, Justin Cadman and Elizabeth Cadman; four great-grandchildren, John Michael Williamson, Megan Williamson, Caramia 'Pretty Baby' Williamson and Andrew Harrison; one sister, June Ellen Clark of Garfield, Georgia; one brother, John Vernon Sikes and his wife, Juanita, of Garfield, Georgia, and her dog, Sugar Bear.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o'clock Thursday at Gamble Funeral Service ' 410 Stephenson Avenue, Savannah.
The funeral service will be held at 7 o'clock Thursday evening in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by Chaplain Anslem O. Springer. Private interment will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
