Timothy 'Tim' Leopold Genest, 52, retired EMS Director and Assistant Chief at Southside Fire/EMS & Security, of Savannah, Georgia and husband of Jennifer Smith Genest, died Wednesday afternoon, November 16, 2016, at Memorial University Medical Center.



Born in Statesboro, Georgia, he was a son of Paul Andre Genest and the late Katrina Lillian Hagan Genest. Tim was of the Christian faith. He was a former assistant manager and director of Mercy Ambulance Service. Tim was a state certified paramedic, a state certified firefighter, a certified paramedic instructor, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) instructor and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) instructor. He was a member of the Georgia Association of Fire Chiefs and the International Association of Fire Chiefs. Tim was a former member of the Georgia State Board of EMS and a former chairman of Georgia Office of EMS and Trauma - Region 9. He was a member of the Exchange Club of Savannah. Tim enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, woodworking and golf. Most of all, he will be remembered for his loyalty, his contagious smile, and his laughter.



Survivors include his wife, Jennifer Smith Genest of Savannah; two step-sons, Evan Sexton and Jackson Sexton, both of Savannah; his father, Paul Andre Genest of Claxton; two sisters, Paula McNeely and her husband, Joey, of Claxton, and Brenda Genest of Savannah; two nieces, Leslie Braun and her husband, Josh, and Kristin McNeely, and one great-niece, Lilly Kate Braun.



The family will receive friends from 3 until 5 o'clock Sunday afternoon at Gamble Funeral Service ' 410 Stephenson Avenue.



The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Monday morning in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by Chaplain Dale Simmons. Interment, with fire department honors, will be in the Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery.



Honorary pallbearers will be past and present members of emergency medical service and fire service.
