Tilmon Joseph Taylor, 84, passed away Monday, November 25, 2013, peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Jeff Davis County, Georgia on January 14, 1929, he was the son of the late Clifton Monroe Taylor and Winnie Olive Sears Taylor. Mr. Taylor was a member of the Savannah Free Methodist Church for over 35 years and has attended Cokesbury United Methodist Church for almost 20 years. Mr. Taylor served in the United States Army. He was a paper worker with Union Camp for over forty years and loved hunting, fishing and gardening. He was a loving husband and father, who cherished the time he spent with his family and friends.
Surviving are his wife of over 57 years, Verna 'Suggie' Mae Yawn Taylor of Savannah; his son, Timothy Ray Taylor and his wife, Suzanne, of Savannah; his daughter, Janice Kay Guglielmi and her husband, Matthew, of Savannah; two brothers, Comer Taylor of Alva, Florida and Burtis Taylor of Hazlehurst, Georgia; a 'special' sister, Jeanette Taylor Powell of Hazlehurst; a sister, Elois Harper of Fernandina Beach, Florida; three grandchildren, Christina Taylor, Jackson Taylor and Joseph Taylor, all of Savannah; a great-grandson, Liam Taylor-Williams of Savannah; several nieces and nephews; and Sparky, his pet and faithful companion.
The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 o'clock Friday morning at Gamble Funeral Service ' 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Friday morning in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by The Reverend Michael E. Myers. Interment, with full military honors, will be at 11 o'clock Saturday morning in Yawn Cemetery at Hazlehurst.
