Thomas Moore Clarke, Jr.?? 75, of Savannah, Georgia, and husband of Jan Grimsley Clarke, died Saturday evening, June 14, 2014, at Hospice Savannah.
He was born on May 20, 1939 in Atlanta, Georgia, a son of the late Thomas Moore Clarke, Sr. and the late Laura Smith Clarke. He moved to Savannah in 1976, residing on Talahi Island until his death. He was a graduate of Darlington Preparatory School and graduated from the University of Georgia in 1964 with a BA degree in Business Administration, majoring in accounting.?? He worked in Atlanta as an accountant for Coca-Cola and retired from the Department of Revenue in 2002, at which time he joined his wife in their accounting business in the area of tax preparation. Tom was an avid golfer, loved boating and had a great appreciation for nature.
Tom was a kind, gentle soul and will be missed by everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Jan Grimsley Clarke; a daughter, Ridley Pope Bemis and her husband, John; a son, Thomas Moore Clarke III and his wife Jill; five grandchildren, Emily Clarke, Thomas Moore Clarke IV, Robert Clarke, Robert DiBeneditto and Anna DiBeneditto; a sister, Laura Courter And her husband Norman of Atlanta, Georgia; brothers, Walton Clarke and his wife Sarah of Atlanta, Georgia, Ted Clarke and his wife, Robin of Savannah, Georgia and Logan Clarke of Houston, Texas.
Funeral services will be announced at a later time.
