Tapp Jefferson 'T. J.' Cowart, 93, of Savannah, Georgia, and husband of Joyce H. Cowart, died Thursday morning, August 29, 2013 at St. Joseph's Hospital.
T. J. was born on May 13, 1920, in Collins, Georgia. He was the son of the late Thomas Jefferson and Georgia Cowart. Tapp was a World War II veteran who earned medals for the Normandy invasion and the Battle of the Bulge. He was also a 32nd degree Mason. His first wife, Margaret Cowart, predeceased him. Step-sons are Ronald (Gwen) and John, deceased, (Barbara) and Grandchildren, Bret, Abbey, Brad and Jennifer, and several great grandchildren.
He is survived by his present wife, Joyce Hagin Cowart. Step-sons are Fred (Robin) and Gregory (Stephanie) and grandchildren, Trey and Jamie.
The family will receive friends on Saturday afternoon, September 7th, from 2 until 3 o'clock at White Bluff United Methodist Church - 11911 White Bluff Road, Savannah.
The Memorial service will be held following the visitation at 3 o'clock Saturday afternoon at White Bluff United Methodist Church. Interment will be private.
