Mrs. Sylvia Yvonne Graham Schmelz, 80, died early Friday morning the 8th of January 2016.
The Savannah, GA native was the only child of Alletha and Rufus Graham, was a graduate of Coker College, and enjoyed her career as an elementary school teacher. She will be laid to rest in Savannah alongside her parents.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Charles, of North Bergen, NJ; a son, Chip Schmelz of Redwood City, CA; a daughter, Claire Kelly of Knoxville, TN; grandson, Brian Kelly of Brooklyn, NY; granddaughter Megan Kelly of Knoxville, TN; several beloved cousins, Charles and Mary Lee Warnock, Diane Graham, Drucilla White, and Pat Glisson; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
A Christian Prayer Service will be held 10:00 am Monday January 11, 2016, at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church (Knoxville, TN). A graveside service will be held 10:00 am Wednesday January 13, 2016, at Hillcrest Abbey East (Savannah, GA).
In lieu of flowers, please make remembrances to a favorite charity.
