Susie Belle Gordy Kirby, 75, of Savannah, Georgia and wife of Albert G. Kirby, died Tuesday evening, December 16, 2014, at Memorial University Medical Center.
Born in Bulloch County, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Willie Wade Gordy and the late Thelma Lee Gordy. Mrs. Kirby was a faithful, longtime member of Bible Baptist Church. She retired as a Department Manager after 24 years with Walmart. Mrs. Kirby deeply loved her church and her family.
Surviving are her husband of 58 years, Albert G. Kirby of Savannah, Georgia; two daughters, Catherine L. Kirby and her significant other, John H. Williams, Jr., and Cynthia D. Cowart and her husband, Anthony, all of Savannah, Georgia; two sons, John W. Kirby and his wife, Melissa, of High Point, North Carolina, and Charles M. 'Mike' Kirby and his wife, Sandra, of Gonzales, Louisiana; five grandchildren, Julie Ann Royce, Christopher Kirby Cowart, Leeann Emily Kirby, John Eric Kirby and Noah Boutin Kirby; one great-grandson, Joshua Wade Kirby; one sister, Jaqueline W. Ridgdill of Phenix City, Alabama; one niece and four nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock Saturday evening at Gamble Funeral Service ' 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon at Bible Baptist Church conducted by The Reverend Dr. Herbert F. Hubbard and The Reverend Thomas W. East, Jr. Interment will be in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery near Statesboro.
