Stuart Michael Robinson, 87, died peacefully Saturday April 6, 2024 under the loving care of Hospice Savannah. He was born April 27,1936 in the Bronx, New York to Fay Miller (Joseph) and Leonard Robinson (Ida).
Stu was a kind, honest and loving man finding the joy in every situation. He loved listening to all genres of music in particular jazz and classical. As an avid sports fan, he was a life-long New York Giants and New York Yankees fanatic. In later years, Stu adopted the Atlanta Braves as his team. His interests included Torah study, Yiddish learning, and genealogy. Additionally, Stu loved to eat (especially ice cream), to read, to play games, and to tell jokes. His favorite pastime was the time he spent with his family.
In 1958, Stu graduated from City College of New York with a Bachelors degree in electrical engineering. He began his career in private industry and joined the United States government in 1971. He worked for various federal departments including the House of Representatives, before transferring to the executive branch of government with the National Bureau of Standards, Department of Commerce. In 1975, Stu's Department of Defense career began. He remained within the DOD advancing to the top level of civilian service at the Office of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Stu retired with highest honors and distinction.
Stu was most loyal and devoted to his beloved "wifey" of over 64 years, Lucille (Lulu) Doris Marlin Robinson, and dedicated and most proud of his three daughters Gail Debra Kolosieke(Robert), Toby Jill Goldstein (Joseph) and Karen Beth Hairfield (Steven), his three grandchildren Sara Fay Goldis(Shmuli), Joshua Robert Goldstein and Alec Justin Zirkelbach and his one great-granddaughter Emma Yael Goldis. In addition, he was a caring older brother to Arnold Robinson and Paul Robinson (deceased).
We would like to express our deepest gratitude to the incredible staff of Buckingham South for their loving care of "Mr. Stu" and to the amazing and compassionate nurses at Hospice Savannah.
The funeral will be held graveside at Bonaventure Cemetery Monday April 7th at 3:30pm. Shiva will be at Buckingham South Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 1:30-4:30pm and 7:00-8:30pm. Donations can be made to Hospice Savannah and the Bnai Brith Jacob Synagogue in his memory.
