Stephen Davis Kirkpatrick

d. March 11, 2014

Stephen Robert Davis Kirkpatrick was born in Ashville, North Carolina on July 2, 1959, to parents Joan Harriet Breitlow and Robert Davis.?? He moved to Athens, Georgia with his family and then on to Tifton, Georgia, residing there along with his 5 siblings, mother and adoptive father, Dr. James Kirkpatrick throughout his childhood.?? He began scouting at a young age and remained dedicated to the curriculums earning the Rank of Eagle Scout with Boy Scouts of America.?? Ever the entrepreneur, he started his first business during high school.

After graduation from Tift County High School in 1977, Stephen attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, and continued on to the University of Georgia to study environmental and animal sciences.?? He received his Bachelor of Science degree from the College of Agricultural & Environmental Science at UGA in 1983.

From graduation he moved to Monroe, then Vidalia, Ga when he was given the opportunity to run the state's dairy at Reidsville.???? After some time, Stephen returned to UGA to further his education, and ultimately moved to Savannah, GA and started his lifelong business, Kirkpatrick Pest Control.?? It was this business that fed his entrepreneurially spirit and fulfilled his naturally personality as a service-focused individual.?? He maintained the proud distinction of contractor to the Georgia Ports Authority while simultaneously running his business.

While in Savannah, he served as a deacon at Independence Presbyterian, and later chose to worship close to home on Tybee Island.?? With God's grace, Stephen passed away at the young age of 54, on March 10, 2014.

Stephen was a war aficionado and a fisherman; a shark tooth scavenger and an arrowhead hunter. He loved astronomy, archeology, geology, and history.?? He relished in the outdoors and appreciated God-given nature and its beauty.?? Above all else ' he was a Georgia Bulldog fan!

He was giving of his time, and always lent a helping hand, an open heart, and a kind ear. His knowledge of language beat us all in scrabble and the word of the day games he played regularly.?? In his all too brief life, he touched many lives with his smiling eyes and infectious laugh'as a son, a brother, a cousin, a nephew, a grandson, a friend, a husband, a boyfriend, a fianc??, a stepdad,?? and an uncle many times over.?? He was a student of life, an eagle scout, a parishioner, a humbly proud deacon, and a proudly thorough bug man. He was loudly opinionated about everything from religion to politics.?? Everything you\'re not supposed to be at a party, yet he was the life of the party.

Stephen is survived by his fianc?? Jennifer Gadd, his father James Kirkpatrick, his brother Jay Kirkpatrick, four sisters Jane Kirkpatrick Halliley, Andrea Davis Kirkpatrick Deeds, Melissa Kirkpatrick, Heather Kirkpatrick Scherer, and Francis Davis Roen, 12 nephews & nieces, and many cousins, aunts and uncles who will miss him terribly.?? We believe he is now busily making up lost time with his mother, his father, his grandparents, and all ancestors and friends who lead the way.

A memorial service is being held in his honor on April 3, 2014, beginning at 1 o'clock at the All Saints Episcopal Church - 804 Jones Avenue - Tybee Island, Georgia.?? A reception for family and friends will follow immediately after.
