Stephanie Patricia Murphy

She fought the Good fight, she finished the race, and now a crown of righteousness awaits.'



Stephanie Harriet Patricia Murphy was born on April 18, 1950 in Savannah Georgia, the only daughter of Patricia D. Murphy and the late Harry B. Murphy, Sr.



She was received unto the presence of her Savior on January 24, 2020. She was born at the old Telfair Hospital on Park Avenue in downtown Savannah. ??She attended Eli Whitney Elementary, Shuman Middle, and Groves High School. She took ballet and piano and was a lover of the arts throughout her life. She was always a studious student who consistently brought home high grades to the chagrin of her younger brother, Butch. Harriet was the apple of her daddy's eye and he was always quick to put 'little brother' in his place if he showed any signs of disrespect towards Stephanie. While attending Morningside Baptist Church, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior, and she strove to maintain the highest moral Christian standards throughout her life. Stephanie attended Georgia Southern University and Auburn University and graduated with a degree in rehabilitation.?? She worked as an art teacher for the Savannah Chatham Board of Education for many years. ??Later she was a docent at the Telfair Museum of Art. ??For many years she volunteered at the J. C. Lewis Cancer Clinic. Throughout her life she sought to help the less fortunate and was quick to offer a helping hand to anyone in need. ??Any little lost lamb was fair game for Stephanie.



Her main focus in life was her faith, her family, and her friends. She was a member of Bible Baptist Church. She loved her yearly mission trip to Romania where she not only shared her love of art, but also her love of Christ. ??She was a loving mother who provided all things for her only son, Leonard Orville Harmon. Her devotion to her son was a source of inspiration and encouragement to both her family and her friends.



She is survived by her mother, Patricia D. Murphy, and her brother Harry Butch Murphy (Sammie Lou), her son, Leonard Orville Harmon, and cousins Bobby Baker , Margie Kate Dasher, Naomi Driggers (Glennville, Georgia.), Linda Murphy Sims, and Susie Murphy Hohnerlein (Savannah, Georgia.).



Many thanks for her friends and associates, especially Carol Hammock Williamson, who was with Stephanie through thick and thin and the ups and downs, along with Jaimie and Karen White and friends from Lighted Pathway Sunday School Class, and Deborah and Sandi Hanzel, ??Deborah Smith Loper, and Nick and Julie West, all of whom Stephanie dearly loved and always spoke fondly of.



Special thanks to the staff of Azalealand Nursing Home and Hospice House of Savannah and Gamble Funeral Service, and the staff and members of Bible Baptist Church. Your kindness and compassion was a source of deep comfort for Stephanie and her family. And as Stephanie would often say, 'God is so good.'?? ??'For from Him and through Him and to Him be glory forever and forever, Amen' Romans 11:36.



The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 o'clock Wednesday morning, January 29, 2020, at Bible Baptist Church ' 4700 Skidaway Road. The funeral service will immediately follow at the church, conducted by Pastor Thomas W. East, Jr. Interment will be at 2:30 in Harmony United Methodist Church Cemetery ' 1688 Harmony Church Road, Glennville.
