Stella Frances Gabriel Kitchen, 62, of Pooler, Georgia, peacefully entered into eternal rest on April 16, 2015, in her home, surrounded by loved ones.
Born September 20, 1952 in St. Albans, England, Stella was the daughter of the late Herbert James Dawborne and the late Mary Josephine 'Mollie' Dawborne. Stella moved to the United States in 1980 with her husband and three children, and they added to the family with a fourth child a year later. She worked in the Family Life Office in the Catholic Diocese of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania for almost 15 years, developing and training individuals in marriage and other sacramental preparatory programs. In addition, she served as a Board Member for the National Council of Catholic Bishops Diocesan Development Program for Natural Family Planning and was a Diocesan representative for the National Association of Catholic Family Life Ministers. Stella also developed the Diocese of Harrisburg Natural Family Planning (NFP) and NFP Teacher Training programs, which are being used across the country.
Stella was the best friend and beloved wife of 41 years to Roger Kitchen. She is also survived by her son, Matthew Kitchen and his wife, Carrie, of Marietta, PA; her daughters, Helen Kitchen and partner, Shane Reichert, of Hanover, PA, Sarah Rutkowski and her husband, Michael, of Canton, GA, and Elizabeth Althoff and her husband, Will, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; and her five beloved grandchildren.
She will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to family and friends, her incredible sense of humor, and the joy that she brought to all those around her.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 6:30 o'clock Monday, April 20, 2015, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church ' 501 South Coastal Highway ' Port Wentworth with the Rosary being held at 6:30 o'clock.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 o'clock Tuesday morning at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church conducted by The Reverend Douglas K. Clark. Interment will be private.
