A Life Well Lived
Simon James Hill I was a man of unwavering commitment to God, his family, his country, and his community. He lived his life with integrity and humanity believing every stumbling block is an opportunity and steppingstone to triumph. He walked with God and lived a life of honor, love, and respect with no regrets. Affectionately, known as “Papa, SJ, Sam, Diamond, and Hook”, he was a devoted husband to Dorothy Bennett Hill for 48 years and father to three loving children. On October 2nd, 2023, surrounded by his family, he crossed over the Jordan and was granted his wings. Simon was the second child of the late Jimmie and Elnora Hill. At an early age, he was passionate about his spiritual walk and always serve his fellow man. He was a devoted member of Compassion Christian Church for over 14 years, where he served “faithfully” on the Traffic Team and Discipleship Group (Team Loblolly). He was known for being easy-going, kind, and incredibly compassionate toward others. He was a gentle soul, peaceful, well-loved, and a pleasure to be around, as everyone who knew him would attest. Mr. Hill was educated in the public schools of Chatham County and a proud graduate of Alfred E Beach High School, Class of 1971. He went on to serve in the United States Marines for three years.
