Shirley Annette Roper

SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - Shirley Annette Roper, 66, of Savannah, Georgia, died Sunday evening, July 5, 2009, at Hospice Savannah.
Born in Wilkes County, Georgia, she was a daughter of Rufus Frederick Newsome and Anne Chastain Newsome. Shirley was a member of Central Baptist Church. She was in her 38th year working with Coastal Center for Developmental Services and Quantum. Shirley was "officially" part of the mail room but was active in most of the other departments. She was a wonderful daughter and loved by many.
Surviving are her parents, Rufus F. and Anne C. Newsome of Savannah, Georgia; one step-brother, Jeffery Newsome of Rincon, Georgia; one aunt, Emma Lou Woods of Athens, Georgia, and cousins including Bill Chastain and Bob Edwards.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock Tuesday evening at Gamble Funeral Service, 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Wednesday morning in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by The Reverend Kenneth L. Harrelson.  Interment will be in the Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
