Shelia Marie Smalls, 61, of Port Wentworth, Georgia, died Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at Memorial University Medical Center.
Born and raised in Savannah, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Ernestine Simmons James and the late Charles Grant. Shelia was of the Christian faith and a member of First Nazareth Avenue Missionary Baptist Church. She earned her Bachelor degree and was a registered nurse (RN). Shelia devoted her nursing career to caring for those under dialysis treatment. She enjoyed shopping, traveling, and making memories with her family and friends.
In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by her sisters and brothers.
Survivors include her daughter, Shalonna Rainey; her son, Shakir Mickel; two grandchildren, Savion Landon Mickel and Nova Marie Mickel; two brothers, Tommy Clark (Nanette Rivers) and Henry James (Latara); a sister, Stacie Polite; special niece, Janea Smalls, and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 o'clock Saturday afternoon, September 18, 2021, at Gamble Funeral Service - 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 3 o'clock Saturday afternoon, September 18, 2021, in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by Pastor Sarah Williams and Pastor Joella Smith. Interment will be private.
