SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - Sarah Kaplan Epstein, 80, widow of Elliot Epstein, died Sunday evening, July 25, 2010, at her home.
Born in Houston, Texas, to the late, Sam Kaplan and the late Rose Oberhand Kaplan.
She was raised by her step-mother, Aunt Ida Zimmerman Kaplan and was a member of Congregation Bnai Brith Jacob. Mrs. Epstein worked for Friedman's Jewelers as a secretary and also worked at Goodwill Industries and at the Hadassah Thrift Shop for many years. She was the president of Hadassah and was a member of the Sisterhood at Congregation Bnai Brith Jacob and a lifetime member of Mizrahchi Women.
Surviving are one daughter Rosalyn Campbell and her husband, Bert of Pauleys Island, South Carolina; four sons, Hymie Epstein, Norman Epstein and his wife, Jan, David Epstein and his wife Kathy and Jay Epstein and his wife, Donna, all of Savannah, Georgia; one brother, Nathan Kaplan and his wife, Dell of Plano, Texas; four grandsons, Elliott, Samuel, and Richard Epstein, Louis Campbell and his wife, Jill; one granddaughter, Shelley Caran and her husband, David; one great-granddaughter, Zoe Caran and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning, July 27, 2010, at the graveside, Bonaventure Cemetery, conducted by Rabbi Avigdor Slatus.
