Sara Miller Deich, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 10, 2023, at Buckingham South. She was born on March 18, 1929, and had just celebrated her 94th birthday.
Sara was born to parents Sybil and Herman Miller, and she grew up in Savannah, Georgia. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by one brother, Jack Miller.
She married the love of her life, Mickey Deich, at age 21. Together they were married over 50 years, and had five children: Madeleine Varner, Michael Deich, Myra Portman (Jerry), Margie Adler, and Dr. Matthew Deich (Cheri).
Sara was very proud of all her children and was especially close to her 13 grandchildren. She kept up with all their activities and accomplishments. Her grandchildren were Judge Keith Siskin (Sheri), Brad Siskin, Lauren Deich, Kari Leigh Arflin, Jeremy Deich, Harry Portman (Elana), Leah Green (Daniel), Dr. Brandon Adler (Monica), Jason Adler, Jared Adler, Gabriella Deich, Jonah Deich, and Chloe Deich.
Sara also had six great-grandchildren: Kadence, William, and Ava Arflin, Ayelet Portman, Ezra Portman, Netanel Portman, Chana Green, Benyamin Green, and Racheli Green. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Kathy Miller and 2 nephews: Jack Miller and John Miller.
Sara enjoyed being a housewife and participated in all activities of her children. She volunteered for 10 years as a Pink Lady at Candler Hospital and received a merit pin in recognition of her long service.
She was a voracious reader, a fan of baseball (NY Yankees), a very good bowler, and an avid mall walker.
Sara lived her final years at Buckingham South, where she made many friends and enjoyed her retirement. The family would like to thank Rita Slatus, the Slatus Family members, and all the wonderful caregivers who took excellent care of her.

Shiva will begin Friday, April 14, at Buckingham South 11 AM to 2PM. It will continue Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday 11AM to 4 PM.
The funeral service was held at 3:30, Tuesday afternoon, April 11, 2023, at the graveside, Bonaventure Cemetery, conducted by Rabbi Avigdor Slatus.
