Sandra 'Sandy' Sue Shoemaker, 57, of Savannah, Georgia died Monday evening, June 22, 2020, at Memorial University Medical Center.
Born in Waycross, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Forrest Hilton Shoemaker and the late Flora Jacobs Shoemaker. Sandy was a member of White Bluff United Methodist Church. She earned her Bachelor of Sports Medicine degree graduating Magna Cum Laude from Armstrong State College. Sandy was an athletic trainer for Armstrong University where she worked with the women's basketball team and other sports. She was a former model for Elite Modeling Agency in New York. Sandy loved animals, especially her dogs Ceasar and Boo Boo, and spending time gardening with her sister Kay.
Surviving are her sister, Kay Shoemaker of Savannah; her brothers, Craig Shoemaker and his wife, Kathy, of Savannah, and Forrest Shoemaker and his wife, Iris Takahashi, of Honolulu, Hawaii; her nieces, Myriah Fitts, Heather Gralow, and Holly Taylor; her nephew, Tommy Sherrod, and her great-nieces and great-nephews, Elijah, Ethan, Ezra, Darean, Zane, Uli, Declan, Sean, Alexandra, and Charlotte.
The family will receive friends from 2 until 4 o'clock Saturday afternoon, June 27, 2020, at Gamble Funeral Service ' 410 Stephenson Avenue.
A memorial service will be held at 4 o'clock Saturday afternoon, June 27, 2020, in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by the Reverend Dr. Josh Duckworth. Interment will be private.
