Sally Moran Roberts Little, widow of A. Patterson Little III, died 19 October 2023. She was born 10 October 1938, the only child of J. Moran Roberts and Sally Christopher Roberts. The family lived at that time in Dublin, Georgia, but moved to Atlanta on the day after her third birthday. Sally was educated in Atlanta public schools, High Museum of Art, Brenau College for Women, and Emory University.
While a student at Brenau, she planned to spend a weekend in Savannah as the guest of a sorority sister. As they climbed aboard the Nancy Hanks for the trip, she noticed an interesting looking guy also getting on the train. As it happened, he was a friend of her hostess from high school, they were introduced and fell into a series of fascinating conversations. By the time the weekend was over, she knew she had found the one to spend the rest of her life with, as well as the place they would live. Before the end of that year, they had married and moved to Athens, GA where Pat earned his college degree and entered the U.S. Army.
After many years of following Pat through station assignments and deployments, the Littles returned to Savannah and called it home. In the early 1990s Pat was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) and died in 1998. As a widow, with married children, her time could now be spent with her grandchildren, on her art, and on community activities, especially Savannah Widows' Society. As much as Sally and Pat were one in life, they were also one in death. Sally and Pat died on the same day, 25 years apart.
Surviving are daughter Barbara Evelyn (Lyn) Little McCuen and her husband, Wip McCuen, son David Patterson Little and his wife Jennifer Little, and daughter Laura Lee Little Sherman and husband Brad Sherman, six grand-children, Kristen McCuen McAdams and husband John McAdams, William P. (Mac) McCuen, III, Maran Little Warlick and her husband Andrew Warlick, Conor Patterson Little and his wife Carlie Little, Tahlia Patterson Little and Zachariah Patterson Sherman, and five great-grandchildren, Jack, Lee and Will McAdams, Thomasin Warlick and expected in November 2023, Evelyn Little.
