Ruth Minick Banks Smith, 93, of Savannah, Georgia and widow of William Howard Banks and Sidney Erle Smith, died Friday morning, October 19, 2018, at Beaufort Memorial Hospital.
Born in Statesboro, Georgia, Mrs. Smith was a graduate of Bulloch High School and member of Temple Baptist Church. For over thirty years she worked as an operator and then manager at Southern Bell Telephone Company.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by several siblings.
A devout Christian and dedicated to her family, she is survived by one daughter, Louise Sheaffer and her husband, Jimmy, of Bluffton, South Carolina; three grandchildren, Terri Donaldson, Bill Barrow and Kimberly Shires, and several great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held 3:30 Sunday afternoon at the graveside, Bonaventure Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be sent to the American Heart Association ' Suite 400, Northeast South Tower, 10 Glenlake Parkway, Atlanta, Georgia, 30328-3495.
