Ruth Charlotte Stephens McCown, 84, of Ellabell, Georgia, and widow of James Junior McCown, died February 17, 2022, at St. Joseph's Hospital.
Born in Parkersburg, West Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Raymond Stephens and the late Elsie Edna Irene Moore Stephens. She retired from Gulfstream after twenty-five years, where she worked inspecting aircraft harnesses. Ruth enjoyed playing bingo at the American Legion in Thunderbolt and the Moose Lodge in Sandfly. She loved to watch her grandchildren and great-grandchildren play football, basketball, baseball, and soccer.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by all nine of her siblings; her daughter, Edna Long, and her son-in-law, Harold Long.
Survivors include her daughters, Charlotte Adams and her husband, Morris, of Ellabell, Mary Evans and her husband, Wayne, of Ellabell; five grandchildren, John Adams, Rebecca Adams, Selena Fox, Donald Evans, and Wesley Long; ten great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 10 o'clock Saturday morning, February 19, 2022, at the graveside, Evergreen Baptist Church Cemetery, between Metter and Claxton, conducted by the Reverend Dr. Drew Corbett.
