SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - Jeanette Laing Patterson, 83, died October 26, 2009 in Savannah. She leaves two daughters, Kay Patterson Eskew and Susan Patterson Brinkley, and son-in-law Sam Eskew, all of Savannah; her grandson, Austin Eskew, an Eagle Scout and new Marine Recruit currently serving at Parris Island, SC; and a dear friend, Guy Robbins. She is predeceased by her sister and best friend, Lula Anderson of Quincy, FL; and by her beloved "Pat," Charles William Patterson, Jr. (Major USAF - Retired), to whom she was married for nearly 45 years.
Born Ruby Jeanette Laing, she grew up in Florida and returned there for several years after the death of her husband. In the interim, she traveled the world as an Air Force wife, making homes for her husband and daughters in Texas, Alaska, California, Illinois, Germany, Arizona and South Carolina. She moved to Savannah in 2005 to be near her family, and lived at John Wesley Villas.
Jeanette loved family reunions, babies and animals, gardening and baking, traveling and coming home. Her favorite role was that of "Granny," and her proudest moment was attending grandson Austin's Eagle Scout Court of Honor in 2008.
The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon at Centenary United Methodist Church in Quincy, Florida.
The funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon at Centenary United Methodist Church in Quincy, Florida, conducted by The Reverend Jack O. Tilk and The Reverend John V. Whitehead. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Quincy, Florida.
