Ronald G. Davison of Savannah, GA died January 5, 2023 at home after a brief illness at the age of 85. He was born at Deaconess Hospital in Buffalo along with his twin brother, the late Roger T. Davison. He is also predeceased by his mother and father, Mary Josephine (Dolan) and Marvin P. Davison.
Ron grew up in Buffalo, attended St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute, and received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Buffalo in 1959 and went on to earn a doctorate in Education from the university as well. He put himself through school working a variety of jobs including caddying at the Park Country Club, running elevators at the Park Lane Apartments, and working the furnaces at Bethlehem Steel.
He began his teaching career at the Ken-Ton School district and eventually accepted a position as Associate Professor in the College of Education at Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas. After 22 years at Wichita, he took a position as a Professor and Department Chair of Education Administration at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Georgia, where he stayed until his retirement in 2001.
Upon retirement, Ron was a prodigious reader. He keenly followed world events and traveled extensively around the world, including visits to family in Ireland, Canada, and California. He was an avid collector of everything from art to antiques to automobiles.
Ron is survived by his brother’s widow, Margaret “Peggy” Bradley Davison of Silver Creek, NY, his nephew, Peter B. Reiling (Melissa Leopard), grand nephews, Maxfield and Joseph Reiling, all of Buffalo, NY, a beloved cousin, Joan Sullivan of Hamburg, NY and his loving friend, Margaret Watts of Elgin, Illinois.
