Roland Eugene Lance, 73, of Savannah, Georgia and widower of Frann Tucker Lance, died Saturday evening, March 12, 2016, at Savannah Square.



Born in Acworth, Georgia, he was a son of the late Clinton Eugene Lance and the late June Theda Coleman Lance. Roland was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church. He was a United States Coast Guard veteran. Roland graduated and was an enthusiastic supporter of Georgia Southern University. He managed Belk at Crossroads Shopping Center for 34 years where he was well-loved and made everyone there a part of the family. Roland started an annual Belk reunion which today is still well attended. He was an avid fisherman and a member of the Independent Order of the Odd Fellows, Oglethorpe Lodge #1. Roland was a very kindhearted and thoughtful man who enjoyed doing for others and he was loved by all who met him. He greeted everyone with a smile and gentle handshake and never met a stranger.



In addition to his wife of 43 years and his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, James Byron Tucker.



Surviving are his mother-in-law, Lucille Griffin Tucker of Savannah, Georgia; several aunts and uncles and several cousins.



The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock Tuesday evening and from 11 until 12 o'clock Wednesday morning at Gamble Funeral Service - 410 Stephenson Avenue.



The funeral service will be held at 1 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the graveside, Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, conducted by The Reverend Dr. R. H. Craig.
