Robert worked 40 years of his life at S. H. Kress store on Broughton Street in downtown Savannah. He retiring from there in 1994 as the Assistant Store Manager. He served as the Sunday School Superintendent for Reformation Lutheran Church, were he earned his Twenty Year Award for perfect attendance. He later became a member of Ascension Lutheran Church and also attended St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with his brother.
Robert was self taught and enjoyed tinkering/restoring old TVs and radios. He alway enjoyed reading Popular Mechanic magazine. He was the family genealogist and enjoyed sharing his knowledge of his family history.
As a devoted son, Robert cared for his parents throughout both of their lives until they passed. He is survived by his older sister, Inez S. Smith, and older brother, Albert H. Schunemann and numerous nieces and nephews. He is proceeded in death by his older brother, Harold A. Schunemann, and younger sister, Betty S. Gamache.
