SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - Robert Gene "Butch" Major, Sr., 63, of Savannah, Georgia, died Sunday afternoon, June 6, 2010, at St. Joseph's Hospital.
Born in Lena, Mississippi, he was a son of Laverne Donald Major and the late Harold William Major. Butch was a member of Cresthill Baptist Church. He was a faithful, dedicated employee for Kole Properties.
Surviving are his son, Robert "Robbie" Gene Major, Jr. of Savannah, Georgia; his mother of Savannah, Georgia; one sister, Donnie Flatt and her husband, Robert, of Visalia, California; four brothers, Harold Major and his wife, Yolanda, of Jacksonville, North Carolina, Howard Major and his wife, Linda, of Savannah, Georgia, Marion Major and his wife, Brenda, of Walkersville, Maryland, and George Major and his wife, Angie, of Savannah, Georgia; two grandchildren, Robert Collin Major and Madison Emaree Major, and his caregiver, friend and former wife, Peggy Lamb Major, of Savannah, Georgia.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock Monday evening at Gamble Funeral Service, 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 3 o'clock Tuesday afternoon in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by The Reverend David Stanton and The Reverend Dr. Dell Belew. Interment will be private.
