Robert C. Knox Iii

Robert C. Knox III was born on February 20, 1941, in Hartford, Connecticut to Robert C. Knox, Jr. and Leonice Merrels Knox. He is survived by a daughter, Heather Noelle Knox and a son, Robert C. Knox, IV (Naomi) and three grandchildren: Robert C.V, Connor Noah, and Lydia Elise.

He was predeceased by a sister, Leonice Lethbridge Knox and is survived by a brother, Lance Lethbridge Knox (Mary), Ronni Knox, two nieces, and six grand nephews and nieces. Also survived by Bob, is his former wife and loving companion, Kim Mary Knox.

He was educated at Renbrook, Kingswood, Taft and Trinity College, Class of 1963, where he was President of DKE Fraternity and Chairman of Campus Chest.

Continuing his fund raising, he joined the American Cancer Society in New York as director of Men’s Special Gifts

He relocated to Ocean Beach, New York, where he owned a guest house and restaurant. He became secretary and treasurer of the volunteer fire department and President of the Firemen’s Association. He served four terms on the school board, some as Vice President, and as a Village Trustee.

He chaired two campaigns as Trinity’s Alumni Chair, the second raising over one million dollars, a first for the organization.

He moved to Sarasota, Florida to enrich his family’s opportunities. Active in his children’s schooling as North County Advisory Chair, he was instrumental in bringing girls soccer into the county’s high school.

He and Mary later moved to Savannah, Georgia historic district, into a downtown home built in 1869.

He became an active member of the High Noon Club at the AA Clubhouse, helping many with their recovery.
