Robert 'Bob' Virgil Harvey, Sr., 80, of Savannah, Georgia and husband of Jewel Goodwin Harvey, was called home by the Lord, Tuesday morning, December 23, 2014, at Signature HealthCARE of Savannah.
Mr. Harvey was born in Savannah, Georgia, the son of the late John Robert Harvey and the late Edith May Barefield Harvey. He was a 1952 graduate of Savannah High School and a graduate of Georgia Tech, where he majored in engineering. Bob served his country in the National Guard.
He was employed as an architectural designer of new bank buildings for C & S Bank as well as an estimator with the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers. He won the Griffin Award for the revitalization of Savannah's Visitors Center.
Mr. Harvey coached Little League for the Lion's Club of Savannah and also in the Pony League for the Walker's Market Athletics.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jewel Goodwin Harvey; one son, Robert 'Robbie' Harvey, Jr., and one granddaughter, Amber Cristin Harvey.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o'clock Monday at Gamble Funeral Service ' 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Tuesday morning in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by The Reverend William G. Hester. Interment will be in the Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
