Robert Jackson Grier, Jr. passed peacefully on the evening of Saturday, July 18, 2020, at PruittHealth - Seaside in Port Wentworth, Georgia at the age of 63 after an extended illness. Robert was born at Telfair Hospital in Savannah, Ga on July 12, 1957 and grew up off Quacco Road.
Robert is preceded in death by his father, Robert Jackson Grier Sr; his mother, Georgia Louise Grier; his sister, Glenda Kay Welsh, and his brothers-in-law, Gene Austin Murrell and Jesse Alldredge Jr.
He leaves behind two daughters, Rachel Jeanette Grier (Fianc?? Robert Hope) and Rebecca Lynn Govier (Josh); two grandsons, Nicholas Gage Govier and Jameson Cole Govier; their grandmother, ex-wife, and friend, Tammie Grier; his sisters, Deborah Grier Alldredge and Judy Grier Murrell; his brother, Randell Grier (Colleen); brother-in-law, Patrick Welsh; his uncle, Fred S. Grier, Sr. (Elizabeth); his aunts, Margaret Grier Duggar (Tommy), Agnes Cowart and Dorothy Oliver; eight nephews and nieces, Jessica Smalley (Timothy), Derek Alldredge, Jennifer Miller (Sam), Kaitlyn Waters (Andrew), Jackson 'Jake' Grier, Daniel Grier, Dana Lamb (Jason), David Collins (Jessica), and twelve great-nieces and great-nephews, Elizabeth Smalley, Abigail Alldredge, Alexander Alldredge, Aiden Alldredge, Haley Collins, Nolan Collins, Abrianna Wall, Alliyah Wall, Gabriel Wall, Randell Miller and Luke Waters.
Robert enjoyed traveling the United States as a CDL tractor trailer driver (CB name Breaker). He also worked as a diesel mechanic, security guard, and water truck driver. He enjoyed gardening and tinkering with and fixing engines and other items. Robert also loved collecting things from swords to coins. Most of all Robert loved his family and enjoyed being around them. His favorite place to be was where he grew up off Quacco Road surrounded by family. Robert Jackson Grier, Jr. will be missed but not forgotten.
A family memorial will be held at a later date to be announced.
