Robert 'Bob' Edward Gillette, 78, of Savannah, Georgia and husband of Jody Barbara Bliesener Gillette, died Friday morning, October 11, 2019, at St. Joseph's Hospital.
Born in Hartford, Connecticut, he was a son of the late William Joseph Gillette and the late Marion Waldron Gillette. Bob was of the Methodist faith. He was a United States Army veteran. Bob was a caretaker for many years at the Hartford YMCA. He loved spending time with his family and friends, helping others, and he enjoyed woodworking, construction projects, and working with his hands.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Adell Urban and Georgianna Conklin, and four brothers, Walter Gillette, William Gillette, Alan Gillette and Richard Gillette.
Surviving are his wife of 34 years, Jody Barbara Bliesener Gillette of Savannah; one daughter, Justine Marie Massengill and her husband, Will, of Atlanta; two sons, Mark Robert Gillette of New Hartford, Connecticut, and Randy Glen Gillette and his wife, Amy, of Colebrook, Connecticut; four grandchildren, Morgan Gillette, Katharine Gillette, Jarrett Gillette and Colby Gillette; three sisters, Marion Bullis and her husband, Harvey, Donna Buyak and her husband, Eugene, and Carol Blass and her husband, Bucky, and nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 o'clock Saturday afternoon, October 19, 2019, at Gamble Funeral Service ' 410 Stephenson Avenue.
A memorial service, with military honors, will be held at 3 o'clock Saturday afternoon, October 19, 2019, in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by the Reverend Drew Humphreys. Interment will be private.
