Robert Harley 'Andy' Anderson, 79, of Savannah, Georgia and husband of Betty Ann Tapley Anderson, died Saturday evening, December 8, 2012, at Memorial University Medical Center.



Born in Tattnall County, Georgia, he was a son of the late Harley Anderson and the late Eloise Murphy Anderson. Andy was a faithful member of Southside Baptist Church where he was a member of the Adult 6 Sunday School class and a former Sunday school teacher and deacon. He retired in 2000 as owner and operator of Anderson Supermart, Inc., which owned the E-Z Shop, Andy's IGA and Smith Brothers IGA, all in Savannah, and Andy's IGA in Pembroke and Andy's Market in Ellabell. Andy was a member of The Gideons International for more than 20 years. He loved his church, his family, his work, traveling with his wife and family time on his pontoon boat. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Verda Wilkes and his brother, Edward Anderson.



Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Betty Ann Tapley Anderson of Savannah, Georgia; one daughter, Marsha A. Fiveash of Tyrone, Georgia; one son, Robert M. Anderson and his wife, Brenda, of Savannah, Georgia; six grandchildren, Matthew Scott Anderson, Bailey Erin Fiveash, Kelsey Morgan Fiveash, Nora Grace Anderson, Patrick Oliver Diebolt and Leah Virginia 'Ginnie' Diebolt, and one sister, Winsor Smith of Lyons, Georgia.



The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o'clock Tuesday at Gamble Funeral Service ' 410 Stephenson Avenue.



The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Wednesday at Southside Baptist Church conducted by The Reverend Dr. Allan W. Bosson and The Reverend Jerry L. Claxton. Interment will be in the Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
