Rita H. Asher

Rita Halperin Asher, 74, passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2024 in Savannah.

Mrs. Asher was born February 21, 1949 to the late Sydney and Ada Halperin. She was a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She is fondly remembered by all for the fact that she cared more about others than herself. She was an avid member of the Jewish community, along with being a past president of the B’nai Brith Jacob synagogue sisterhood.

Mrs. Asher was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Alan Asher; son, Zachary Asher, daughter, Shannon Javetz and husband Scott; grandchildren, Reese and Matthew Javetz, Sadie and Glavine Asher; and brother, Richard Halperin and wife Vickie, all of Savannah.

Shiva will be held at the Asher residence, 6401 Habersham Street #6A, Savannah, GA, 31405 from Friday, February 2 through Tuesday, February 6 from 1-4pm and 7-9pm daily, with the exception of Shabbos, February 3.
