Richard 'Rick' Walter Turner, 85, of Riceboro, Georgia and widower of Ruth Livingston Turner, died Tuesday afternoon, June 4, 2013, at home and under the care of Hospice Savannah.
Born in Savannah, Georgia, he was a son of the late James Frank Turner and the late Vera Tullis Turner. Mr. Turner was a retired machinist for J. C. Lewis Ford after more than 50 years of service. He loved fishing and gardening and was an avid reader. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Nicholas Foreman.
Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Brant of Savannah and Lynn Shipferling of Houston, Texas; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, and one sister, Jean Lavin of Savannah.
The family will receive friends from 7 until 8 o\'clock Wednesday evening at Gamble Funeral Service - 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 3 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the graveside, Silver Leaf Primitive Baptist Cemetery ' 1329 Old Savannah Road, East Dublin, conducted by The Reverend Dr. Samuel W. Watkins.
