Dr. Richard A. Leavey, 76, of Savannah, Georgia and husband of Hara Zuckerman Leavey, died Saturday evening, October 1, 2016, at Savannah Square.
Born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, he was a son of the late Herbert Leavey and the late Sylvia Leshner Leavey. Dr. Leavey was a member of Congregation Mickve Israel. He was a Major in the United States Air Force. Dr. Leavey was a board certified oncologist and hematologist in Mercerville, New Jersey. He loved golfing, fishing, boating, and being surrounded by his wonderful family.
Surviving are his loving wife of 54 years, Hara Zuckerman Leavey; three daughters, Beth Crawford and her husband, Kevin, Jodi Kean and her husband, Eric, and Stacy Rosenberg and her husband, Daron; eight grandchildren, Mathew Crawford, Scott Crawford, Natalie Crawford, Josh Kean, Ryan Kean, Ellie Kean, Phoebe Rosenberg and Sloane Rosenberg; one sister, Carolyn Newhouse; one sister-in-law, Marilyn Slagel and her husband, Bob, and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Thursday morning in Temple Beth Israel ' 2090 Hollywood Drive in York, Pennsylvania, conducted by Rabbi Jeffrey Astrachan. Interment, with military honors, will be in South Hill Hebrew Cemetery ' 2130 Starcross Road in York.
