Richard L. Hodges, Jr., 80, of Thunderbolt, Georgia and husband of Barbara Hodges, died Sunday, September 7, 2014, at Memorial University Medical Center.
Born in Savannah, Georgia on January 7, 1934, he was a son of the late Richard L. Hodges, Sr. and the late Leona Elizabeth Lanier Hodges.
Richard served his country in the U.S. navy and the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Temple and the Savannah Carpenter and Millwrights Local 256. He was also a volunteer with the Thunderbolt Fire Department.
He was predeceased by his parents, great granddaughter and brother.
Surviving is his wife of 57 Years, Barbara Jean Ambrose Hodges; a daughter, Laura E. Hodges; a son, Richard L. Hodges III; two granddaughters; two great-grandsons; a sister and a brother.
The family will receive friends from 12 until 2 o'clock Wednesday at Gamble Funeral Service - 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by The Reverend B. Derward Poole, Jr. Interment will be in Bonaventure Cemetery.
