Richard Allen Anderson, 68, of Savannah, Georgia and widower of Georgeann Marie Balland Anderson, died Wednesday morning, November 12, 2014, at Bryan County Health and Rehab at Richmond Hill.
Born in Newark, New Jersey, he was a son of the late Cleon Purvis Anderson and the late Anna Rose Lemmons Anderson. Richard was a communicant of the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. He was a United States Air Force veteran. Richard was a retired insurance agent with Prudential Insurance Company. He enjoyed playing golf but, most importantly, he loved taking care of his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years.
Surviving are two daughters, Michelle Hendley and her husband, Jeff, of Savannah, Georgia, and Dawn Scott and her husband, James, of Dublin, Ohio; one son, Richard J. Anderson and his wife, Laura, of Charleston, West Virginia; five grandchildren, Olivia Scott, Katie Scott, Whitney Scott, and Matthew Scott, all of Dublin, Ohio, and Jason Anderson of Savannah, Georgia; two sisters, Shirley Hullins of Syracuse, New York and Diane Steward of Melbourne Beach, Florida; four brothers, Ronald Anderson of Red Bank, New Jersey, William Anderson of Clifton, New Jersey, Roger Anderson of Walterboro, South Carolina and Michael Anderson of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 3 until 5 o\'clock Sunday afternoon at Gamble Funeral Service - 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 11 o\'clock Monday morning in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by Father Rudy Roxas. Interment will be in the Catholic Cemetery.
