Rebecca Aldhizer Sowers

Rebecca Anne Aldhizer Sowers, 96, of Savannah, Georgia and widow of Walter Frank Sowers, Sr., went to her Eternal home on Friday afternoon, August 24, 2018, at her home.



Born in Roanoke, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late John Taylor Aldhizer and the late Rose Mae Ellinger Aldhizer. Mrs. Sowers was a longtime active member of Southside Baptist Church, where she was a member of the choir and taught Sunday school most of her life. She was an accomplished seamstress and made clothes for many of her family and friends.



In addition to her husband of more than 50 years and her parents, she was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Dani Ryan; three sisters, Elizabeth, Frances and Migs, and one brother, John.



Survivors include her children, Sarah Ann Sowers Stuart and her husband, Brian, Walter Frank Sowers, Jr. and his wife, Arline, all of Savannah, Georgia, Martha Jean Sowers Waller and her husband, Jim, of Braselton, Georgia, Ellen Sowers Patridge and her husband, Phil, of Richmond Hill, Georgia; and her precious adopted family, Andy and Patricia Williams and their children, Ashley and Drew; twelve grandchildren, Cathy Ryan Pershey and her husband, Richard, Al Ryan and his wife, Pam, Beth Ryan George and her husband, Don, Sharon Ryan Coker and her husband, Mike, Walt Sowers III, Jim Ryan and his wife, Kathy, Lee-Anne Waller Spires and her husband, Billy, Brian Sowers and his wife, Melinda, Rebecca Waller Chalmers and her husband, Chris, Michael Crichton, Jay Stuart and his wife, Jennifer, and Leigh Crichton and her fianc??, Andrew Bolt; nineteen great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.



The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock Monday evening at Gamble Funeral Service ' 410 Stephenson Avenue.



The funeral service will be held at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning at Southside Baptist Church conducted by The Reverend Dr. Allan W. Bosson. Private interment will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.



Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
