Ralph Joseph 'Joey' DiFiore, Jr., 48, formerly of Savannah, Georgia, died Friday evening, August 29, 2014, in Grover, North Carolina.



Joey was born December 2, 1965 in Savannah, Georgia and was a longtime native Savannahian.?? He was a 1982 graduate of Savannah High School, and was a police officer for the Savannah Metro Police Department from 2004 to 2013.



He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Angela McBride, a lifelong resident of Savannah, Georgia.



Joey was a much loved son, father, brother and nephew.?? He was sustained throughout his life by a strong sense of perseverance, determination, and a wonderful sense of humor. Even as a child, he overcame many obstacles to become the wonderful friend that he was to many, many people.?? His opinions were many and they were often strong, but he never lost sight of his respect for everyone, even when he didn't see eye to eye.?? He helped us learn more about ourselves by sharing those differences with us and reinforcing that we were ok'that it's ok to be different.?? Everyone who knew Joey and had him in their lives are richer for him.?? He will be greatly missed.



Surviving are his fianc??e, Heather Cook Walters; two daughters, Autumn Brittany DiFiore (daughter of Stefanie Decker), Lauren Gabrielle DiFiore (daughter of Debbie Mathis); a son, Joseph Reid DiFiore (son of Nicole DiFiore); his father, Dr. Ralph Joseph DiFiore, and his wife Jane of Beaufort, North Carolina; a sister Claire DiFiore Parnell, and her husband Kenny of Daphne, Alabama; two aunts, Theresa McBride Trail and her husband, Bill, of Macon, Georgia, Marie McBride Powers of Savannah, Georgia; three uncles, Michael 'Mike' Joseph DiFiore, and his wife Alison, of Reidsville, Georgia Daniel A. McBride, and Daniel Stevens both of Thomaston, Georgia;?? a niece, Megan Elizabeth Spearman of Birmingham, Alabama, and many cousins.



The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 o'clock Friday afternoon at Gamble Funeral Service ' 410 Stephenson Avenue.



The funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by The Reverend Dr. Drew Corbett. Interment will be private.
