Rachel Kennedy Causey, 85, formerly a long-time resident of Savannah, GA, died in Acworth, GA on August 22, 2016, surrounded by her loving husband and two daughters.
Rachel was the youngest of four children born to John and Rachel Kennedy in Thomaston, GA, and is survived by her sister Anna Hollman of FL.
Rachel left Thomaston to attend West Georgia College where she met the love of her life, John 'Pete' Causey. Pete's job took them to many different cities before his last transfer to Savannah over 40 years ago. Rachel's life in Savannah was filled with her family, friends, and church activities at White Bluff United Methodist Church.
Rachel is survived by her husband of 65 years, Pete Causey; her two daughters and their husbands, Fran Causey Smith and husband, Jerry, and Rachel Lynn Roland and husband, Jim. Rachel has always been proud of her six grandchildren: April Smith Bunn and husband, Beau, Captain Jason T. Smith, USMC, Lora Smith Roberts and husband, Alan, Daniel Smith and wife, Marie, Elizabeth 'Libby' Causey Wright and husband, James, and John Tice and wife, Laura. Rachel also had five great-grandchildren that she loved dearly: Jason Bunn, Nathan Bunn, Nevaeh Ensey, Anna Roberts, and Tess Roberts.
She was also blessed with bonus grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Heather Roland Emrich and husband, Jim, with their daughters Grace and Amelia, Chelsea Brooke Roland and her daughter, sweet Emmy, and PFC Alex Foley.
Rachel had many nieces and nephews but considered Margie Tesar and Jacquie Mozley her other daughters.
Rachel will be missed by her family and friends and the staff at The Overlook at Cedarcrest. She cared more for others than herself and always had a smile or laugh to share.
The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 o'clock Saturday morning at White Bluff United Methodist Church.
The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Saturday morning at White Bluff United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Hillcrest Abbey ' West.
